I'm selling this reluctantly as I don't have the space anymore.
UAD EMT 140 HOW TO
I'm just trying to figure out how to buy the best deals because I don't have the cast to buy everything I want right now.For sale, this beautiful old EMT 140 Plate, currently in East London. I would suggest grabbing the 1176, La-2a and pultec though if you have the dough. You typically won't see bigger discounts than that though so I wouldn't expect it to ever be better. I've got my eye on the Trident EQ because I'm obsessed with emulating classic consoles and that looks like good pricing, but it's too new to know. That's one that I'd use as a mastering plugin and probably vocals too. The other plugin I plan to buy is the Manley Massive Passive because I've never seen that go on sale for more than 50$ off and the sale now is good. The sale today was exactly what I was looking for so I grabbed it now. I've kept waiting for a sale and the best I saw was 50$ off at some point. What I already bought is the Fairchild because that compressor is killer. I haven't really been paying attention to the Roland. I'm going to have to go get that one because I don't think I'll see that pricing again (didn't see it last year). The EMT is one on my watch-list and that pricing is amazing. Black Friday is not exactly a killer price on that or the LA-2A or the Pultec bundle. smooooooth.ġ176 is cheaper than I've ever seen it, but only by 10$. Don't forget you can try demos for each one first!ĮDIT - Almost forgot the Harrison EQ. That's just my two cents! It's a tough choice, they have a lot of really great sounding plugins. Though, I have an Apollo, so I usually track with this or the Studer in real time, I find myself going for the Ampex a bit more. I actually like it better than the Studer, even for individual tracks. But if I had to choose ONE of the UAD versions, I would go for the Ampex. The Studer and the Ampex are nice as well, but recently I've been working on heavier material, and I like the way the Steven Slate Virtual Tape Machines handle the material a little bit better. Especially useful for the mix knob feature, which pretty much gives you parallel compression built in to the unit. nuff said.įairchild Tube Limiter - Use this one on drums A LOT. Read up on it, it's so much more than just a distortion unit.ġ176 Limiter Collection - 1176. Good for just adding a bit of bottom to a weak sounding vocal, to totally fucking shit up and overloading it to all hell.

After demoing it, I would up picking this one up. When I first heard about it, I thought it was a one trick pony. Thermionic Culture Vulture - This was an obscure one for me.

Even has a feature to sample different signal paths over a set amount of measures so you can search for a good tone while the track is playing back. Everything from light overdrive to over the top distortion. My default setting is holding shift down and pressing all 4 buttons in.ĮNGL E765 RT - Great all around guitar amp emulator. Just a little really helps to spread the vocal out. Personally, I set this up on an aux track for the vocals and blend it under the dry track. Roland Dimension - I saw this one mentioned a lot on here. now without all the maintenance! Very fun, musical delay, especially when you crank that intensity knob up!! Roland Space Echo - One of my all time favorite hardware units to play with of all time. The 250 is great as well, but the 140 is just my go to for plate reverb.

In no particular order, here are the ones that make it into my sessions regularly:ĮMT140 - Hands down one of the best reverbs I have ever used.
